What is the purpose of arts criticism today? Is it simply to scrutinize actors’ performances and the intricacies of scenic elements? Or can it serve as a way of interrogating who we are as a society?

Goodman’s re-imagined Cindy Bandle Cultural Critics (CBCC) program believes that criticism, like art itself, should reflect the times in which we live. This FREE ten-week program is designed to strengthen participants’ critical voices as multifaceted writers and give them the tools to work across multiple platforms.

CBCC participants create cultural critiques to explore who we are and who we want to be. The program also prepares participants to work across a wide variety of platforms, from traditional print to online media and podcasting.

Through the lens of Goodman’s mainstage productions, participants hone their critical voice by attending performances and completing weekly writing assignments; learning to compose, create and shoot short video commentary; and producing audio stories for podcasts.
