Back by popular demand, Dance Call is an eight-week multi-genre intensive workshop focused on movement for multiple skill levels; with an emphasis on musicality and how our bodies relate to storytelling and movement. Conditioning, check. Original choreography, check. Havin’ a good ol’ time & feelin’ the feels, double check. Whether you’re dusting off the Capezio’s or sharpening your real-time retention, let’s take it to the floor with some contemporary numbers and theater classics. Investigating Energy: Suzuki Exercises for Performance

Goodman Theatre’s Alice Center for Education and Engagement
Fridays | 5:30pm – 7:00pm
March 7 and 14
April 4, 11, 18 and 25
Taught by Jeremy Ohringer

This six-week class will utilize Suzuki-inspired exercises to help participants tap into “exceptional theatrical energy” while improving their focus, stillness, strength, imagination, and ability to relax despite the pressures of performance. We will explore various techniques, including stomping, sustained slow movement, and swift bursts of energy, as well as exercises focused on stillness.

The class is designed for beginners as well as those looking to continue their practice. Each session will build on the exercises from previous classes, with special attention given to specific elements of performance. We welcome participants of all performance levels, but please be prepared to engage in this intense physical form of theatre. Be ready to sweat and listen to your body. Drop in’s are welcome; join us for one or all of the classes.
