Stage Chemistry

Goodman Theatre’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program, Stage Chemistry is based in Next Generation Science Standards-based curriculum that introduces teachers and students to the STEM principles in technical theater through interactive workshops.

Original Stage Chemistry workshops are created for each production in the School Matinee Series, and are offered free for participating schools. Past lessons include “Testing the Waters,” an examination of water contamination for An Enemy of the People, “Actors in Flight,” the science of simple machines for A Christmas Carol, and “The Soundproof Box”, an experiment based on the soundproofing of the Goodman’s Owen Theatre.

Stage Chemistry also offers partnerships between the theater and schools’ robotics teams. Interested? Email
