Eric Ting returns to the Goodman, where he previously directed The Upstairs Concierge for the 2013 New Stages festival. He is the Associate Artistic Director at Long Wharf Theatre, where he has directed the world premieres of Aditi Kapil’s Agnes Under Big Top and The Old Man and the Sea (which he also co-adapted), January Joiner, Sylvia, Bad Dates, Italian American Reconciliation, The Bluest Eye (co-production with Hartford Stage), Underneath the Lintel (Connecticut Critics Circle Award for Best Play and Best Direction), It’s a Wonderful Life: A Radio Play, Clybourne Park and his adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth – Macbeth (1969). Other works include Donald Margulies’s Shipwrecked: An Entertainment… (Shakespeare Santa Cruz); Anna Deavere Smith’s Let Me Down Easy (American Repertory Theater); Warrior Class (Alliance Theatre) and the world premiere of Jackie Sibblies Drury’s We Are Proud to Present a Presentation About the Herero of Namibia, Formerly Known as South-West Africa, From the German Sudwestafrika, Between the Years 1884-1915 (Victory Gardens Theater and Soho Rep, for which he received an OBIE Award). He has also directed workshops and readings for the Lark Theater, the Public Theater, Hartford Stage, Yale Repertory Theatre, Marin Theatre Company, Bay Area Playwrights Festival, New Dramatists, Vineyard Theatre, McCarter Theatre and American Conservatory Theater. Mr. Ting’s work has been presented internationally, including France, Canada, Romania, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Singapore and Bali. He is a founding member of the artists’ collective INTELLIGENT BEASTS and a recipient of a 2012 MAP Fund Award.
