Breon Arzell

Detroit native, Breon Arzell, is a critically acclaimed and award winning performer and artist. After national tours in Italy and Germany, he decided to make Chicago his artistic home in 2013. Since then, working from non-equity storefronts, to regional equity houses, elementary to high schools; he has made a formidable name for himself within the artistic community as an actor, choreographer, and teaching artist. He has been recognized as one of NewCity Magazine’s 50 Players of Chicago Theater, twice (2018 & 2020), and has won 6 Joseph Jefferson Awards, and 2 Black Theater Alliance Awards. He is currently a Lead Teaching Artist with About Face Theatre and a teaching artist for Goodman Theatre and Joel Hall Dancers & Center. A career spanning 23 years (and counting), his talents have allowed him to work and perform all across the U.S., Canada, Italy, Germany, Denmark, London, & Singapore, and be a voice for inclusion, equality, and the upliftment of his community. Establishing his own style of movement and storytelling, his styles are heavily influenced by modern, jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop (with specialties in body percussion, heels, and commedia). Currently, he is creating and developing various projects, including new works and the resurrection of a historical musical, and advancing his newly launched business/brand “Hauz of Arzell”. www.breonarzell.com
