Disney Musicals in Schools

FOR CHICAGOLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

The Goodman, in partnership with Disney Theatrical Group, aims to build a sustainable tradition of musical theater within local elementary schools. Through the 17-week program, teaching artists work with students and teachers to craft the school’s musical, and train teachers to become directors, music directors, choreographers and stage managers. The program culminates with a final performance on the Goodman’s stage, with each school performing for their classmates, families and community members.

Students experience Goodman Theatre productions free of charge through the School Matinee Series (SMS), the Goodman’s flagship Education program. Participating Chicago high schools receive standards-based teacher professional development, arts-integrated curriculum across subject areas, production-specific study guides, and tickets to Goodman Student Matinees.
