Artist Bio
Irekani Ferreyra

Irekani Ferreyra (U/S Musician) is an interdisciplinary performer and educator with broad experience in Mexican music and dance. Originally from Mexico City, he began Aztec dance and zapateado at a young age and then went on to study guitar at music conservatory. He began playing Mexican folk music, learning violin, requinto jarocho, jarana jarocha, Mexican harp, flute, Aztec drum and more. He has performed at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington D.C., the World Music Festival and has toured across the US, Mexico and Europe. He is a sound engineer at Alebrije Studios and founder of performance ensembles Son Monarcas and Nahui Ollin Aztec Dance. SonMonarcas.com
