Artist Bio
Cynthia Cornelius
(Bio as of January 2022)
Cynthia Cornelius-Teaching Artist- is beginning her ninth year with Goodman Theatre’s GeNarrations Seniors’ writing workshop. For over twenty years, Cynthia served as the Executive Director and CEO for The Chicago Academy for Learning and Theater Laboratory, a non-profit enterprise incorporated to motivate educationally challenged, at risk youth and adults through theater arts and creative writing. In addition to her post at the Goodman Theatre, she previously served as Educational Coordinator for Red Clay Dance Company, and as a teaching artist for Victory Gardens Theater, working with teens during the August Wilson Monologue Competition. For most of her career, Cynthia has been involved in community, city and statewide initiatives to further the cause of arts education, serving on the board of directors for, and being the of recipient of an Excellence in Education Award from the Westside Association for Community Action. She is thrilled to be working with these amazing seniors on this project
