Linda Lavin most recently appeared at the Goodman in Finishing the Picture during the 2004/2005 Season. Other Goodman credits include the world premiere of Hollywood Arms by Carrie Hamilton and Carol Burnett, directed by Hal Prince. The production went on to Broadway in 2003. Recent appearances include Peter Gallagher's mother on the FoxTV series The O.C., and her one-woman cabaret act The Song Remembers When, which she has performed in Atlanta, Palm Beach and New York. In 2001 she starred in the PBS film Collected Stories by Donald Margulies, directed by Gil Cates, who had directed Ms. Lavin in the stage version of the play at the Geffen Theatre in Los Angeles. In 2000-2001, Ms. Lavin received critical acclaim, rave reviews and her fourth Tony nomination for her role as Marjorie in the Broadway production of The Tale of the Allergist's. Wife, a new play by Charles Busch. In 1997, she was nominated for a Tony Award for the role of Mrs. Van Daan opposite Harris Yulin in the Broadway revival of The Diary of Anne Frank. Her many other Broadway credits include Neil Simon's Broadway Bound, for which she won the Best Actress Tony, Helen Hayes, Drama Desk and Outer Critics awards. In 1996, she starred as Lillian Hellman in the off-Broadway production Cakewalk, based on Ms. Hellman's memoirs. Prior to that, she won the Best Actress Obie and Lucille Lortel Award for her work in Death Defying Acts, a trio of one-act plays by David Mamet, Woody Allen and Elaine May. Other off-Broadway credits include The Mad Show, and Patsy in Jules Feiffer's Little Murders, for which she won Best Actress Outer Critics and Saturday Review awards. She played Alice in the sitcom of the same name for nine years and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series two years in a row. For several years she produced and starred in a number of movies and musical specials for television, including an Emmy Award-winning mini-series for PBS, The Sunset Gang, and the comedy series Room For Two with Patricia Heaton. Ms. Lavin resides in Wilmington, North Carolina with her partner Steve Bakunas and their dog Roxie.
