Quiara Alegría Hudes

Quiara Alegría Hudes is the winner of the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Water By the Spoonful. She wrote the book for Broadway's In the Heights (Tony Award for Best Musical, Tony Nomination for Best Book, Pulitzer Finalist, Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical, Outer Critics Circle for Best Musical.) In the Heights, currently in its second national and international tour, has made stops at Centro Bellas Artes in Puerto Rico and Tokyo's International Forum. Off-Broadway plays include Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue (Pulitzer Finalist) which was also produced in Chicago by Teatro Vista/Rivendell. Regional plays include Water By the Spoonful (Hartford Stage Company) and 26 Miles (Alliance Theatre, also seen at Teatro Vista/Rivendell). She is currently writing a musical adaptation of Like Water for Chocolate. Hudes hails from Philadelphia and now lives in New York with her husband and daughter.
