King Hedley

Nov 30 – Jan 6, 2001 in Goodman's Albert Theatre

3 hours

The new Goodman Theatre proudly opened its inaugural season with King Hedley II, by two-time Pulitzer Prize-winner August Wilson. The eighth play in Wilson’s chronicle of the twentieth-century African American experience, King Hedley II paints a vivid, almost operatic portrait of a neighborhood struggling to come to terms with the hearsh realities of life in the mid-1980s. Variety says, “August Wilson’s unflinching new play may be the most passionate work that this astonishing American author has penned to date.”
