  • The dramatic equivalent of a brilliantly rigged minefield” — The Chicago Sun-Times
  • High Voltage!” — The Chicago Sun-Times

This latest work by Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet ruthlessly examines guilt and oppression via a compelling crime mystery.

Two high-profile lawyers—one black, one white—are called to defend a wealthy white client charged with the rape of an African American woman, but soon find themselves embroiled in a complex case where blatant prejudice is as disturbing as the evidence at hand. With characteristic bluntness, Mamet leaves nothing unsaid in this no-holds-barred suspense story which the Chicago Tribune dubbed "intellectually salacious."

    Discovering Mamet's Race

    David Mamet, Race

“When a white person asks a black person a question such as, ‘What is it like to be black?’ the black person knows that it is not a question as a means of inquiry and discovery, but a test for which the white person perceives a right or wrong answer of which that white person is presumed to be the judge." This it seems to me is the role that David Mamet has assumed as the author of Race...
