Sandra Delgado is an award-winning actor, writer, and producer born and raised in Chicago. La Havana Madrid, her first full-length play, developed as part of the Goodman's 2015/2016 Playwrights Unit, played to sold out houses at both Steppenwolf Theatre Company and the Goodman and received recognition as one of the best plays of 2017 by Time Out Chicago (including the audience award for Best New Work) and Newcity. Recent stage credits include Jocasta in Oedipus El Rey at The Public Theater in association with The Sol Project, 2666 at Goodman Theatre, The Motherf**ker with the Hat at Steppenwolf Theatre Company and Mojada at Victory Gardens Theatre, for which she earned distinction as one of the Top Ten performances of the year by the Chicago Tribune. Television credits include Chicago P.D., Law & Order: SVU, Chicago Justice, Empire, Exorcist, Chicago Fire and Mind Games. She produced Teatro Vista's and Collaboraction's Yo Solo Festival of Latino Solo Shows and Collaboraction's Sketchbook Festival from 2005-2008. She is a founding ensemble member of Collaboraction and an ensemble member of Teatro Vista (Associate Artistic Director from 2006-2008). She is the recipient of the Joyce Award, The Theater Communications Group (TCG) Fox Foundation Resident Actor Fellowship, is a two-time Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events grantee and a 3Arts 3AP Project Grantee. Delgado is a resident playwright at Chicago Dramatists, a current member of ALTA's Semillero Playwright's Circle and MC-10 Playwrights Group and is on the Advisory Committee of the Latinx Theatre Commons, a national advocacy group for Latinx theater artists. Her new storytelling series, Saints and Sinners, has been seen at Collaboraction and Steppenwolf Theatre Company. She is currently working on Felons and Familias, her new play about a Chicago woman caught in the black hole of immigration courts, commissioned by Theater on the Lake. She is one of the 20 women of Chicago arts and culture honored in Kerry James Marsall's mural RUSH MORE on the facade of the Chicago Cultural Center.
