Did you know that the Gene-Gabriel Moore Playwriting was awarded to Pearl Cleage in 2008 for A Song for Coretta? Over the course of her career she also earned five AUDELCO awards; the Bronze Jubilee Award for Literature; the Black Caucus of the American Library Association Literary award; Best Work of Fiction and a lifetime achievement award from the Georgia Writers Association; the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work—Fiction; and the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival’s Theatre Legend and Sankofa Freedom Awards.
