Neil Patel

Neil Patel (Scenic Designer), born in Wales, raised in Wisconsin and based in New York City, is an award-winning designer whose work spans theater, film, television, opera and exhibitions worldwide. He is pleased to return to The Goodman, where he designed Walter Artistic Director Susan V. Booth’s recent productions of Betrayal and The Penelopiad. Recent projects include The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation—the inaugural production of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center in Mumbai; Tolu Awosika and Olumide Odebunmi’s King Shaka (executive produced by Antoine Fuqua) for Showtime; and Theater of the Mind for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts/Arbutus. His stage work has appeared on Broadway (Side Man, Time and the Conways), at the Royal Court, BAM and major opera houses worldwide. A member of SITI Company, his exhibition Space Force Construction was featured in the 2017 Venice Biennale. Patel is a two-time OBIE Award winner and Helen Hayes Award recipient. He is a graduate of Yale College and studied scenography at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan.
