David Petrarca most recently collaborated with the Goodman on The Beard of Avon during the 2002/2003 Season. He was a resident director at the Goodman where his credits included the new musical The House of Martin Guerre (Jeff Award, also at Canadian Stage), as well as the world premieres of Wendy MacLeod’s Sin (also at Second Stage Theatre, off-Broadway) and Schoolgirl Figure, Tom Donaghy’s Down the Shore, David Cale’s Somebody Else’s House and Deep in a Dream of You (also at the Public Theater, off-Broadway), Mill Fire (also at Women’s Project, off-Broadway) and Scott McPherson’s Marvin’s Room and its subsequent productions at the Hartford Stage, The Kennedy Center, Playwrights Horizons, off-Broadway’s Minetta Lane (Outer Critics Circle nomination), Hampstead Theatre (London Fringe Award nomination) and in London’s West End. Other Goodman productions include Design for Lving, Richard II, Light Up The Sky, The Skin of Our Teeth and The Visit. Additional directing credits include the long-running off-Broadway musical Dinah Was (also National Tour); the world premiere musical Frog and Toad (Minnesota Children’s Theatre as well as New Victory, NYC); the world premiere of David Lindsay Abair’s Fuddy Meers at Manhattan Theatre Club (also Minetta Lane, off-Broadway); and Kimberly Akimbo at South Coast Rep, the world premiere of David-Marshall Grant’s Current Events at Manhattan Theatre Club; the world premiere of The Water Children by Wendy MacLeod at Playwrights Horizons; and the world premiere of Tom Donaghy’s Northeast Local at Trinity Repertory and Seattle Repertory. Television credits include Nothing Sacred (ABC); To Have and to Hold and Early Edition (CBS); Cupid (ABC); Pasadena (FOX); Jack and Jill, Popular, Dawson’s Creek, Gilmore Girls, Felicity, Glory Days and Everwood (WB). Upcoming projects include a film of Schoolgirl Figure for HBO, a new musical based on Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City, and Kimberly Akimbo at MTC. In 1996, Mr. Petrarca was chosen by the Chicago Tribune as a “Chicagoan of the Year.”
