Make the most of Chicago Public Schools’ upcoming student non-attendance day with Play Days at The Goodman, a playful, action-packed day of theater filled with creativity, exploration and fun! In this edition of Play Days: The Fairy Tale Trials, young artists will step into the world of familiar fairy tales through theater games, creative storytelling, hands-on art projects and lively debates. They’ll explore new perspectives, challenge what they think they know and decide who’s really the hero (or villain!) of the story. Along the way, they’ll stretch their imaginations, make new friends and discover the joy of creating, collaborating and playing together. Drop off your young artist for a full day of imaginative fun!

Designed for children ages 9–12, Play Days is limited to 15 students per class, ensuring plenty of opportunities for hands-on exploration, creative collaboration and individual attention.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Play Days runs from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with drop-off from 8:30–9:00 AM and pick-up from 4:30–5:00 PM.

Yes! After registering, you’ll receive an email from The Goodman’s Education and Engagement team with a link to complete required caregiver forms, including contact information and other important details about your child. All caregiver forms must be completed before arriving for Play Days. Incomplete forms may delay your child’s check-in, so we encourage families to complete them in advance to ensure a smooth and speedy drop-off!

Come ready to move, create and play! Students should wear comfortable clothing they can move freely in and sneakers.

Students will enjoy a lunch break and morning and afternoon snack breaks throughout the day. Families should pack a nut-free lunch, two nut-free snacks and a water bottle for their child. Food and snacks will not be provided, so please make sure your young artist arrives with everything they’ll need for the day!

We do not offer before or after care for Play Days. Families may drop off students beginning at 8:30 AM and must pick them up by 5:00 PM.
