Artist Bio
Yusha-Marie Sorzano
(Bio as of June 2012)
Yusha-Marie Sorzano previously appeared at the Goodman in Crowns during the 2011/2012 Season. Throughout her concert dance career, Ms. Sorzano has performed in numerous ballets and pieces by Alvin Ailey, Ulysses Dove, Mauro Bigonzetti and Ronald K. Brown. She has appeared with recording artists Wynton Marsalis, Sweet Honey In The Rock, Beyoncé Knowles and Rihanna, as a guest artist on Dancing with the Stars and starred as the principal dancer in the independent film You, Me & The Circus. She received her training at the New World School of the Arts, The Miami Conservatory and Dance Theatre of Harlem. Ms. Sorzano attended the Ailey/Fordham BFA program and, in her junior year, was invited to join Ailey II dance company. She has been a member of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Morphoses and TU Dance under the direction of Toni Pierce-Sands and Uri Sands. Ms. Sorzano is originally from Trinidad, and teaches both nationally and internationally.
