Artist Bio
Todd Barton
(Bio as of May 2007)
Todd Barton most recently collaborated with the Goodman on Oedipus Complex during the 2006/2007 Season. He has been the Resident Composer and Music Director for Oregon Shakespeare Festival since 1969 where he is responsible for composing original music for the plays and overseeing all musical activities. He has composed scores for more than 250 plays including the entire Shakespearean canon as well as The Cherry Orchard and Tartuffe. Mr. Barton’s work has also been heard in Sunsets & Glories (A Contemporary Theatre, Seattle); St. Joan (Denver Center Theatre Company); The Tempest (The Shakespeare Theatre, Washington, D.C.); The Sea (Berkeley Repertory Theatre); The Merchant of Venice (Milwaukee Repertory Theater); Copenhagen (Seattle Repertory Theatre); A Moon for the Misbegotten (Willamette Repertory Theatre). He received a special award in popular music from ASCAP for his compositions for the Festival’s 1993 – 2007 seasons. His concert works include performances by the Kronos Quartet, Oregon Symphony Orchestra, Cavani String Quartet and Rogue Valley Symphony. He is the Director of Composition Studies at Southern Oregon University and a member of the multimedia performance ensemble sonoluminescence.
