Artist Bio
T. Ryder Smith

T. Ryder Smith most recently appeared at the Goodman in Passion Play: a cycle in three parts during the 2007/2008 Season. Recent work in New York includes Israel Horowitz’ three-actor, 50-role Lebensraum (2007 Drama Desk Award, Outstanding Ensemble Cast); the Classical Theatre of Harlem’s Marat/Sade (as the Marquis de Sade); Will Eno’s Thom Pain (Daryl Roth Theatre); Anne Washburn’s Apparition (the Connolly); Richard Foreman’s The Gods are Pounding my Head (the Ontological); and Glen Berger’s The Wooden Breeks (Manhattan Class Company) and Underneath the Lintel (Drama Desk nomination, Outstanding Solo Performance). Regional work includes the premiere productions of John Strand’s Lincolnesque at the Old Globe, (2007 Craig Noel Award, Outstanding Lead Performance); Jeffrey Hatcher’s Compleat Female Stage Beauty at Contemporary American Theatre Festival and Charles Mee’s Big Love, at ATL. Film and television work includes playing the Trickster in the cult-film Brainscan, the 2007 experimental feature Horrible Child and several voices on the on-going Adult Swim cartoon, The Venture Brothers. T. was profiled in the September 2006 issue of American Theatre magazine.
