Shanta Nurullah

Shanta Nurullah is a storyteller, musician, actor and writer. She has been a featured storyteller at the National Storytelling Festival (Jonesborough, TN), the National Festival of Black Storytelling, the Illinois, Yukon, Michigan, Nebraska and Las Vegas Storytelling Festivals and at hundreds of educational and cultural institutions across the country. Recipient of the Zora Neale Hurston Award from the National Association of Black Storytellers and a Tradition Keeper Award from Ase: Chicago Black Storytellers, Shanta has also been granted a 3Arts Award and an Illinois Arts Council Artist Fellowship. Shanta has taught Storytelling at Columbia College, Writing at UIC and is a teaching artist at the Old Town School of Folk Music.
