Samuel Ray Gates

Samuel Ray Gates most recently appeared at the Goodman in The Trinity Rivers Plays during the 2010/2011 Season. He has appeared off Broadway in Aunt Dan and Lemon at The New Group; Three Seconds in the Key at New Georges; Electra at the Classical Theatre of Harlem; Nelson at Partial Comfort Productions; and A Wives’ Tale at Summer Play Festival. Regional credits include The Brother/Sister Plays at McCarter Theatre Center; McReele at Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater; Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Fences at Swine Palace; and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Coriolanus, The Winter’s Tale and Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare & Company. Mr. Gates’ television and film credits include The Men Who Stare at Goats, Kings, Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Rescue Me.
