(Bio as of April 2003)
Sageworks is a partnership dedicated to supporting the works of August Wilson. The Broadway production of Seven Guitars marked the company’s first producing venture. In addition to the presentation of Jitney in London, Sageworks presented the Tony-nominated production of King Hedley II on Broadway and Jitney Off-Broadway in New York City. Jitney received the New York Drama Critics Circle Award as Best Play of 2000. Most recently, Sageworks produced the Broadway revival of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom directed by Marion McClinton and featuring Whoopi Goldberg and Charles S. Dutton.
