Artist Bio
Rita Pietraszek
(Bio as of March 2003)
Rita Pietraszek most recently collaborated with the Goodman on the 2006 Latino Theatre Festival. Other Goodman credits include Dinner with Friends, Wit, The Baltimore Waltz, Welcome To Our Living Room (featuring The Flying Karamazov Brothers) and Dancing at Lughnasa (Jeff nomination). Her work has been seen at most of Chicago’s professional theaters including Writers’ Theatre, Victory Gardens, Northlight, Steppenwolf, American Theatre Company, Court Theatre and Chicago Opera Theatre. She received a Jeff Award for King Lear at Chicago Shakespeare as well as an After Dark Award for Lonely Planet at Northlight. Other favorites include To Kill A Mockingbird (Alliance Theatre), Aristocrats and Bang the Drum Slowly (Huntington Theatre Company), Betty’s Summer Vacation (Pittsburgh Public Theatre) and A Month in the Country (Arena Stage). Most recently, she designed the lighting for The Father at Writers’ Theatre and for The Gamester at Northlight. Ms. Pietraszek was recently featured in a cover story in the Arts and Entertainment Section of the Chicago Tribune entitled “Light Touch.”
