Artist Bio
Randy Duncan
(Bio as of November 2008)
Randy Duncan most recently collaborated with the Goodman on Ruined during the 2008/2009 Season. Mr. Duncan’s previous Goodman productions include Vigils, Zoot Suit, Drowning Crow, The Rose Tattoo and Heartbreak House. His other Chicago credits include Once On This Island (Jeff Award nomination), Hello Again (After Dark Award) at Apple Tree Theatre and Carousel at Court Theatre. His previous work with director Kate Whoriskey includes The Tempest at Shakespeare Theatre Company and The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Antigone and The Clean House at South Coast Repertory. He has created works for the Joffrey Ballet, River North Chicago Dance Company, Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, Bat Dor Dance Company of Israel and the Tennessee Children’s Dance Ensemble. His musical theater credits include choreographing and appearing in Street Dreams; West Side Story; Carousel; Hello, Dolly!; Don’t Bother Me; I Can’t Cope and Guys and Dolls. Mr. Duncan’s film and television credits include Save the Last Dance and Urban Transfer. He is a three-time recipient of Chicago’s prestigious Ruth Page Award for Outstanding Choreographer of the Year. Other awards include the 1999 Artistic Achievement Award from the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters and the 1999/2000 Black Theatre Alliance Award for Best Choreography. For the past 14 years he has remained on the faculty for the Chicago Academy for the Arts High School and was most recently named Chair of Dance Department.
