Peter Weller

Peter Weller most recently appeared at the Goodman in Frank’s Home during the 2006/2007 Season. Previously in Chicago, he starred in the premiere of David Mamet’s The Woods opposite Patti LuPone, reprised at the Second Stage in New York. Mr. Weller’s many credits with New York producer Joseph Papp include David Rabe’s Tony Award-winning Sticks and Bones, also in London; Rabe’s Streamers directed by Mike Nichols and Tom Babe’s Rebel Women. Also in New York: Lanford Wilson’s Serenading Louie with Dianne Weist; Full Circle directed by Otto Preminger; William Inge’s Summer Brave with Alexis Smith; James Purdy’s Daddy Wolf and William Mastrosimone’s The Woolgatherer with Patricia Wettig. Regional productions include Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with Christine Lahti at Long Wharf Theatre and A Streetcar Named Desire with Shirley Knight at Hartman Theatre. Mr. Weller began directing film courtesy of Robert Redford at the Sundance Institute. His credits include Partners (Academy Award nomination for Live Action Short) with original music gifted by Miles Davis and Bob Marley, and Elmore Leonard’s Gold Coast with David Caruso and Marg Helgenberger. Network episodes include Homicide and Monk. He is prepping a new thriller, Tangled Up in Blue, to be shot in Louisiana in the winter of 2007. Academia: B.A. from University of North Texas, attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, studied extensively with the great Uta Hagen, inducted into Actors Studio by Elia Kazan, holds M.A. in Italian Renaissance Art History from Syracuse University in Florence where he also teaches, professor ad hoc at Syracuse University in New York and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Italian Renaissance art history at U.C.L.A. After appearing in the Emmy-winning Rome: Engineering an Empire, Weller is now scholar/moderator for The History Channel’s series Engineering an Empire. He plays bebop trumpet with a sextet in Los Angeles, where he and his completely adorable wife Martha reside, dividing time among New York, New Orleans and Italy.
