Artist Bio
Paul Kalina
(Bio as of September 2009)
Paul Kalina most recently collaborated with the Goodman on Animal Crackers during the 2009/2010 Season. Paul Kalina is a founding member of the Chicago physical theater company 500 Clown, performing throughout the United States and England, including performances at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Lookingglass Theatre Company, Performance Space 122 and Orange County Performing Arts Center. He was the movement director for Closer at Steppenwolf Theatre Company and The Romance Cycle at Court Theatre. Mr. Kalina co-created the clown duo Le Pamplemousse and the critically acclaimed clown acrobatic duo The Bumblinni Brothers. He was the 2006 recipient of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers National Directing Fellowship at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He has taught acting, directing, clowning, mask and physical theater for The Actors Gymnasium, Lookingglass Theatre Company, The University of Chicago, The University of Idaho, Boise State University, Columbia College Chicago, The Big Apple Circus and The Theatre School at DePaul University. Mr. Kalina is a represented artist with Cirque du Soleil and Assistant Professor of Movement at the University of Iowa.
