Michael Pressman

Michael Pressman (Director) has successfully moved back and forth from theater, film and television. Pressman’s theater credits are: the Broadway revival of Come Back Little Sheba for the Manhattan Theater Club starring S. Epatha Merkerson, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award for her portrayal of Lola. He directed the world premiere of an original play called Inana written by Michele Lowe at the Denver Center Theater. He directed the world premiere of Come Get Maggie, an original musical written by Diane Frolov, as well as the west coast premiere of Finks by Joe Gilford at the Rogue Machine Theater in Los Angeles. He directed and starred in Frankie and Johnny in the Clair De Lune in Los Angeles, and wrote and directed a movie about the experience, titled Frankie and Johnny are Married. Other theater credits include the west coast premiere of To Gillian on her 37th Birthday, in which he also directed the film version starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Claire Danes, Peter Gallagher and Kathy Baker. He has directed numerous TV series, among them episodes of Law and Order, Law and Order SVU, Chicago Med, Weeds, In Treatment, Justified and others. He is a two-time Emmy Award winner as producer/director for the TV series Picket Fences, which was the beginning of a ten-year working relationship with David E. Kelley, and directed the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie Saint Maybe based on a novel by Ann Tyler. Among his movie credits are Boulevard Nights (recently named to the Library of Congress), Some Kind of Hero starring Richard Pryor, and a film called Those Lips Those Eyes, which was his love letter to the theater starring Frank Langella.
