Artist Bio
Melvin Abston
(Bio as of April 2001)
Melvin Abston most recently appeared at the Goodman in The Amen Corner during the 2000/2001 Season. Other Goodman credits include OyamO’s Let Me Live, directed by Ron OJ Parsons. Mr. Abston’s stage credits include Northlight Theatre, Dream Street/Legacy Theatre, Apple Tree, City Lit, the New Regal, the Arie Crown, Black Ensemble Theatre, Ivanhoe Theatre, Navy Pier, New Mercury Theatre and the Arkansas Repertory Theatre, where he was seen in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as Judah. Melvin’s body of work also includes Train is Comin’, The Life, Purlie, Pill Hill, Thunder Knockin’ on the Door, The Other Cinderella, Coffee Will Make You Black, Doo Wop Shoo Bop and the Joseph Jefferson Award-winning Do Lord Remember Me at Chicago Theatre Company. Film and television credits include Hoodlum, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Early Edition and an appearance on the hit television show ER.
