Artist Bio
Marshall Brickman
(Bio as of September 2008)
Marshall Brickman most recently collaborated with the Goodman on Turn of the Century during the 2008/2009 Season. He co-wrote Jersey Boys, which won the 2006 Tony Award for Best Musical. His film credits include (as author or co-author) Sleeper, Annie Hall, Manhattan and Manhattan Murder Mystery; (as writer/director) Simon, Lovesick, The Manhattan Project and Sister Mary Explains It All. Television credits include The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson (head writer) and The Dick Cavett ABC Late Night Show (head writer/co-producer). He entered show business as a musician; with John and Michelle Phillips he formed The New Journeymen, the group which later emerged as The Mamas and the Papas. His album (with Eric Weissberg) of the soundtrack of Deliverance achieved gold status twice and remains a healthy seller around the world 40 years after its initial release. Mr. Brickman has published in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Playboy and other periodicals. In 2004 he was the recipient of the Writers’ Guild of America’s Ian McClellan Hunter Award for Lifetime Achievement.
