Lynn Ann Bernatowicz most recently collaborated with the Goodman on The Edward Albee Festival during the 2003/2004 Season. She was the recipient of the Goodman Theatre’s first annual Michael Maggio Directing Fellowship. Her world premiere production of Stripped for Circle Theatre was recently nominated for five Joseph Jefferson Citations, including one for outstanding direction, and went on to receive an award for outstanding new play. She was also honored with a Joseph Jefferson outstanding direction nomination for her work on Bondagers for Shattered Globe Theatre, which received Citations for ensemble and supporting actress, and prompted script publication as the U.S. premiere production by Dramatic Publishing. Credits for Circle Theatre include the Jeff-recommended Midwest premiere of Jon Robin Baitz’s translation of Hedda Gabler, the critically acclaimed Candida and the After Dark Award-winning production of A Moon for the Misbegotten, which was noted by the Chicago Tribune and Sun-Times in their Best of the Year lists. Elsewhere, she has directed the world premiere of Warren Leight’s Nine Ten for CollaborAction’s Sketchbook Festival, the Chicago premiere of Tom Stoppard’s translation of The Seagull for TimeLine Theatre, Duet for One for Bowen Park Theatre, The Beauty Queen of Leenane for Theatre of Western Springs and guest directed The Tales of the Lost Formicans for Northern Illinois University and The Food Chain for Lake Forest College. This winter she will be directing Tea for Silk Road Theatre Project in conjunction with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and the Chicago Department of Planning and Development at the new Loop Theater. She is a relative member of American Theater Company.
