Artist Bio
Luna Negra Dance Theater
(Bio as of August 2008)
Luna Negra Dance Theater most recently collaborated with the Goodman on the 2008 Latino Theatre Festival. Founded by Eduardo Vilaro in 1999, Luna Negra Dance Theater is a springboard for renowned Latino master choreographers as well as up-and-coming Latino choreographers. The company has collaborated with world-renowned artists and organizations such as Peruvian singer Susana Baca, Chicago Sinfonietta, Tiempo Libre and Ravinia Festival. Luna Negra makes its home at Chicago’s Harris Theater and performs regularly at Ravinia Festival. The company also tours extensively nationally and internationally. Luna Negra also serves more than 10,000 students each year across the country through outreach and education programs.
