Artist Bio
Louis Contey
(Bio as of March 2006)
Louis Contey most recently collaborated with the Goodman on The David Mamet One-Act Festival during the 2005/2006 Season. He has directed more than 60 plays, including Marriage Play for the Goodman’s Edward Albee Festival. Other favorites include A View from the Bridge, The Manchurian Candidate, A Streetcar Named Desire, All My Sons, Rocket to the Moon, Stalag 17, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Awake and Sing!, Judgment at Nuremberg, Meet John Doe, It’s All True, Pravda, The Boys Next Door and Copenhagen. He is an 11-time Jeff nominee and has received seven Jeff Citations. Among others, he has worked at Steppenwolf, TimeLine, Theatre at the Center, Buffalo Theatre Ensemble, Shattered Globe, Provision Theatre, Eclipse Theatre and American Theater Company. He received his M.F.A. in directing from the Theatre School at DePaul University where he is currently an adjunct instructor. He is also an associate artist at TimeLine.
