(Bio as of July 2022)
Layla Bahmanziari (Script Assistant) is a director and dramaturg. They’re currently an Artistic Intern at Goodman Theatre. Since their relocation to Chicago, they’ve worked as a production assistant for the Goodman’s Playwright’s Unit and as a script assistant on Layalina for New Stages Festival. They’re the Literary Manager at First Floor Theatre, where they were recently the dramaturg for The Secretaries. During undergrad at MTSU, they assistant directed for PlaySpace’s The Willows and completed a directing internship on Macbeth at Nashville Shakespeare Festival. They participated multiple times as a director for Pipeline Collective’s The Salon, a new work development program. For MTSU, they directed These Shining Lives and in collaboration with Nashville Repertory Theatre, directed a never produced, ten-minute piece named As You Dyke It. Layla’s adoration for plays and playwrights and curiosity about the magic of theatre drives their work.
