Artist Bio
Laura Walls
(Bio as of June 2012)
Laura Walls previously appeared at the Goodman in Crowns during the 2011/2012 Season. Her Chicago credits include Sister Sarah in Sanctified with Congo Square Theatre Company (Black Theater Alliance Award for Best Featured Actress); the Duchess in Hats! (Jeff nomination) at the Royal George Theatre; Queen Tiye in Deeply Rooted Dance Theater’s Nefertiti at the Athenaeum Theatre; Mahalia Jackson in Congo Square Theatre Company’s Black Nativity (Black Theater Alliance Award nomination); Good Sister in Thunder Knocking on the Door at Northlight Theatre and Eva Dee in Get Ready (Jeff nomination for Best Actress) at Victory Gardens Theater. Regionally, she has appeared as Mother Shaw in Crowns at Contemporary American Theatre Company. Ms. Walls has been featured at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland; the Monte Carlo Sporting Club; the Montreal International Jazz Festival; the Osaka Jazz Festival and the Tokyo Jazz Festival. She is a soloist with the Sanctuary Choir at Apostolic Church of God. Ms. Walls holds a MA in arts management from Columbia College Chicago and a BA in communications from Roosevelt University.
