Artist Bio
LaRoyce Hawkins
(Bio as of July 2022)
LaRoyce Hawkins (Abbas) is a television, film and theater actor best known for his longtime role on the hit NBC drama Chicago PD. He was born and raised in Harvey, Illinois–a south Chicago suburb–and attended Thornton High School, where he first became interested in acting and stand-up comedy. He attended Illinois State University on a full tuition scholarship, where he majored in acting. Hawkins began his career in the motion picture The Express, followed by television appearances on Tyler Perry’s House of Payne; Detroit 187 and UnderEmployed. He landed his first major television role as Officer Kevin Atwater on Chicago PD and recurs on Chicago Fire and Mark Wahlberg’s HBO series Ballers. Hawkins can also be seen on HBO’s South Side and the new BET+ film North of the 10. A native Chicagoan, Hawkins spends his off-screen time in his community with his Be Powerful initiative, which serves underprivileged youth and families in need.
