Artist Bio
Julie Shannon

Julie Shannon most recently collaborated with the Goodman on the 2004 Latino Theater Festival. John Reeger and Julie Shannon have collaborated on three musicals. Their best known work, The Christmas Schooner, has enjoyed more than 50 productions around the United States, including a nine-year run at Chicago’s Bailiwick Theatre. It received its European premiere at Theatreworx in Bristol, England. Schooner received the After Dark Award for outstanding new work. Their musical Stones premiered at St. Louis Black Rep, and was subsequently produced by Arizona’s Phoenix Theatre and Bailiwick Rep. Let the Eagle Fly received a critically acclaimed showcase performance at the Diller Street Theatre underwritten by North Shore Country Day School and featured a nine-piece orchestration by Larry Blank. Moments from the show were presented at the 14th annual Cesar Chavez Leadership Conference in Portland, Oregon, attended by over twelve hundred Latino students. A fully staged production is scheduled for this fall by the University of Texas Pan American. Julie and John are thrilled to have the strong support of the Chavez family and the Cesar E. Chavez Foundation. Ms. Shannon has written and recorded albums for children with storyteller Rives Collins. Their album Let’s Fill Up the House with Stories and Songs garnered a Parents’ Choice Award. Ms. Shannon is profiled in the 2004-05 edition of Marquis’ Who’s Who of American Women. A Chicago-based actor, Mr. Reeger has performed in more than 100 plays and musicals on Chicago area stages. This season, he was seen in James Joyce’s The Dead at Court Theatre and in Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s productions of King John and The Moliere Comedies.
