Artist Bio
Judith Dolan
(Bio as of April 2002)
Judith Dolan most recently collaborated with the Goodman on Hollywood Arms during the 2001/2002 Season. She has worked with director Harold Prince on several productions including the Broadway production of Candide for which she received a 1997 Tony Award for Best Costume Design. Another collaboration with Mr. Prince, the musical The Petrified Prince at the Public Theater in NYC, earned her the Lucille Lortel Award for Excellence in Costume Design and a 1995 Drama Desk nomination. Other theatrical credits include costumes for Andrei Serban’s production of The Miser for the American Repertory Theatre at Harvard, Christholf Von Dohnanyi’s interpretation of The Magic Flute for The Cleveland Orchestra, Idomeneo for Wolf Trap Opera and the original Broadway production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Her Off-Broadway design credits include Hal Prince’s productions of Grandchild of Kings and Diamonds, Blitzstein’s The Cradle Will Rock and Pericles for the Acting Company. Her designs have also been seen in numerous other theater companies in the United States and abroad including The Abbey Theatre in Dublin, Theatre Clwyd in Wales, American Conservatory Theatre, The Kennedy Center, The Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Shakespeare Theatre in Washington D.C., The Alley Theater and the Houston Grand Opera. Recent work includes the award-winning Broadway musical Parade by Alfred Uhry with music by Jason Robert Brown, directed by Mr. Prince, and The Glass Menagerie starring Elizabeth Ashley for Hartford Stage. Ms. Dolan is currently head of design in the department of theater and dance at University of California at San Diego.
