Artist Bio
Joseph Costa
(Bio as of January 2006)
Joseph Costa most recently appeared at the Goodman in Pericles during the 2005/2006 Season. Broadway credits include the revival of Gore Vidal’s The Best Man. New York Shakespeare Festival credits include Holofernes in Loves Labour’s Lost, leading roles in Julius Caesar, Henry V, Macbeth, The Way of the World and David Hare’s A Map of the World, directed by Mr. Hare. Roundabout Theatre credits include Danforth in The Crucible and Frank in The Show Off. Other credits include Jail Diary of Albie Sachs at Manhattan Theatre Club; Solomon in The Clearing at the Blue Light Theatre and De Flores in The Changeling at the Equity Library Theatre. He was a member of the acting companies at the Alley Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Barter Theatre, Yale Repertory Theatre and the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. Additional credits include major roles at Hartford Stage, American Repertory Theatre, Huntington Theatre, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Arizona Theatre Company, Great Lakes Theatre Festival, Cleveland Playhouse, Syracuse Stage, Center Stage, the Studio Theatre, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Repertory Theatre of St. Louis and the Utah Shakespearean Festival. He recently appeared in Mary Zimmerman’s production of Pericles at Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C. Film credits include First Born, Without a Trace and Off the Black. Television credits include The Sopranos, Law and Order, Mad About You, the ABC mini-series The Kennedys of Massachusetts and the NBC film Prisoner Without a Name, Cell Without a Number. He is a graduate of Gettysburg College, the City University of New York and the Yale School of Drama.
