Artist Bio
Joan Foster McCarty
Joan Foster McCarty (Stage Manager) has an extensive background in stage management and teaching in higher education. She has worked as a stage manager at several Atlanta professional theatres including the Horizon Theatre (Sweet Water Taste, Blackberry Daze, Blue, and most recently The House that will Not Stand), Theatre in the Square, Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company, Actor’s Express and at Theatrical Outfit. Recent credits include, The Wolf at the End of the Block at Theatrical Outfit, Booty Candy at Actor’s Express, Chicken & Biscuits for Dominion Entertainment and Party People at Actors Theatre of Louisville. A native of Chicago, she has also stage managed at Ford’s Theatre, Victory Gardens, the Immediate Theatre, the Black Ensemble, Milwaukee Repertory, and Drury Lane Theatre. She is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association and has taught theatre at Spelman College and Clark Atlanta University for over twenty-five years. She is delighted to join the stage management team at the Goodman Theatre!
