Artist Bio
Jack Wetherall
(Bio as of May 2004)
Jack Wetherall most recently appeared at the Goodman in Heartbreak House during the 2003/2004 Season. Other Goodman credits include the title role of The Rover. Most recently he performed as Will Shakespeare in Swansong at Lucille Lortel’s White Barn Theatre; as Phaedra in Bad Women for The Talking Band in New York; and The Mill and the Floss and the musical Larry’s Party, directed by Robin Phillips, in Toronto. Broadway credits include the title role in The Elephant Man. Off-Broadway credits include Tamara, where he originated the role of Mario. Stratford Festival credits, under the artistic direction of Robin Phillips, include the roles of Henry V, Orlando in As You Like It; and Konstanin in The Seagull (the latter two opposite Dame Maggie Smith). Other credits include the title role in Cyrano de Bergerac at the Guthrie; the title role in Pericles at Hartford Stage; Orsino in Twelfth Night and Jack Absolute in The Rivals at the Old Globe; Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet at Long Wharf; the title role in Macbeth and Berowne in Love’s Labor’s Lost at Alabama Shakespeare Festival; Orestes in The Greeks at Williamstown; Lopakhin in The Cherry Orchard at ACT; Valmont in Les Liaisons Dangereuses at Pittsburgh Public; and Oscar Wilde in Gross Indecency at Cincinnati Playhouse. Television credits include four seasons as Vic on the Showtime series Queer as Folk. Mr. Wetherall has won Dramalogue Awards for his performances as Dionysus in The Bacchae at The Odyssey Theater and as Jack Tanner in Man and Superman at A Noise Within in Los Angeles. He directed Our Town for Robin Phillips at the Citadel Theatre and Measure for Measure at Chicago’s Center Theater.
