Gus Menary

Gus Menary is a Chicago-area director, producer, and arts programmer. He serves as the Managing Artistic Director of Buffalo Theatre Ensemble in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Most recently, he directed the midwest-premiere of Ronan Noone’s The Smuggler for Jackalope Theatre. He previously served as Artistic Director at Seattle’s Book-It Repertory Theatre from 2020-2024, where he produced numerous world and regional-premiere adaptations of literary works. Book-It directing credits include Beowulf adapted by Julian Glover, Solaris adapted by David Greig, and the serialized audioplay of Jamyang Norbu’s The Mandala of Sherlock Holmes adapted by Bilal Dardai. From 2015–2020, he served as Artistic Director of Jackalope Theatre in Chicago, developing, producing, and directing new works and regional premieres by nationally-recognized playwrights.
