Gregory Purnhagen most recently appeared at the Goodman in Galileo Galilei during the 2001/2002 Season. He is a New York based performer whose off-off Broadway credits include Tony in Chez Garbo at the DUO Theater, Michael in Still in Love at Context Studio, Sanford in Fra­ternity of Deceit at Eden Arcade, and Troubador in Night Vision at HERE Per­forming Arts. His numerous projects for composer Philip Glass began with the 1992 revival of Einstein on the Beach (featured performer), directed by Robert Wilson, and continued with the world premiere of La Belle et la Bête (La Bête, Avenant, le Prince), and the world premiere of Monsters of Grace, all of which toured both nationally and internationally. Among his most recent solo concert appearances are Danielis Ludus (King Darius) at the 2001 Spoleto Festival (Italy), Meredith Monk’s Dolmen Music at the Lincoln Center Festival, Making Music: Philip Glass at Weill Recital Hall, and Faure’s La Bonne Chanson with pianist Jerome Lowenthal. He has appeared as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic, Musica Sacra, Voices of Ascension and has recorded extensively on the Sony Classic, Elektra/Nonesuch, Einstein, BMG and Koch Jazz labels.
