Artist Bio
Eric Hines
(Bio as of July 2021)
Eric Hines (Drummer) is a professional percussionist and educator residing in Chicago. An accomplished performer of classical, jazz, Caribbean, Brazilian, Mexican and popular percussion, he maintains an active international touring schedule. He is director of the Caribbean jazz ensemble Eric Hines & Pan Dulce and a drummer/percussionist for Sones de México Ensemble. A scholar of Cuban folkloric music, he has studied in Havana and Matanzas. His dissertation Recipe for a Guaguancó Sabroso: Understanding Quinto Improvisation in Cuban Rumba was published in 2015. He is a Sabian Artist, Tycoon Percussion Artist, Vic Firth Scholastic Educator and DrumDial Artist.
