Artist Bio
Ellen Karas
(Bio as of March 2008)
Ellen Karas most recently appeared at the Goodman in The Trip to Bountiful during the 2007/2008 Season. Ms. Karas’ other Goodman credits include The Rover (as Florinda) directed by Kyle Donnelly; Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream directed by Michael Maggio; Natasha in Three Sisters directed by Robert Falls and Belle in A Christmas Carol directed by Steve Scott. Other Chicago credits include Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Calphurnia in Julius Caesar for Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Ms. Karas recently appeared in Hilda at 59E59 Theaters in New York. Other theater credits include numerous plays for Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and Seattle Repertory Theatre, among others. She received the Helen Hayes Award in 1995 for her performance as Karen Knightly in The Revengers’ Comedies at Arena Stage. Ms. Karas is a graduate of Northwestern University.
