Artist Bio
Edward Pierce
(Bio as of February 2010)
Edward Pierce most recently collaborated with the Goodman on The Long Red Road during the 2009/2010 Season. Mr. Pierce operates a New York City-based design studio specializing in the production design of Broadway, touring and international stage productions. With his team of artists, Mr. Pierce provides first-class development and management of designs. His notable Broadway collaborations include the Tony Award-winning scenic design for the hit musical Wicked with Eugene Lee (additional adaptations for both national tours, as well as productions in Chicago, London, Los Angeles, Japan, Germany, Australia and Universal Studios Japan); the national and international scenic design adaptations for Billy Elliot; the scenic design for 9 to 5: The Musical; the scenic design for Boublil & Schönberg’s The Pirate Queen; the recent revival of The Homecoming and Will Ferrell’s You’re Welcome America, A Final Night with George W. Bush; London’s West-End musical Imagine This; the Tony Award-winning lighting design for Disney’s Aida; the lighting design for Ragtime with Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer (Tony Award nomination); the lighting design for Cabaret (Tony Award nomination); and the designs for Bring in ’da Noise / Bring in ’da Funk and The Tempest. Mr. Pierce’s recent designs include Pope Benedict XVI Pastoral Visit to New York: the Mass at Yankee Stadium; The Lark with Amanda Plummer at Stratford Shakespeare Festival; Caryl Churchill’s A Number with Sam Shepard at New York Theatre Workshop; Hughie with Brian Dennehy at Trinity Repertory Company; Tell Me on a Sunday at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; and the tour of The Who’s Tommy.
