Artist Bio
Christopher Johnson
(Bio as of September 2006)
Christopher Johnson most recently appeared at the Goodman in King Lear during the 2006/2007 Season. He is making his Goodman Theatre debut. He was last seen as the title character in Hamlet at the Building Stage and has appeared in Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest and Rose Rage at Chicago Shakespeare Theater. He is a founding member of Chicago’s Defiant Theatre where he directed A Clockwork Orange, Titus Andronicus, Macbeth, Hamlet, Red Dragon and Apt Pupil and appeared in Action Movie: The Play, Caligula, Ubu Raw, The Skriker, Phaedra’s Love and The Ugly Man. He is the author of the original scripts Godbaby and Dope and received a Jeff Citation for his adaptation of Thomas Harris’ Red Dragon. Behind the camera, he has directed the music video I Know You Love Me for the Smoking Popes and a short film, The Big Date. He is currently working on an adaptation of Bhasa’s Balacarita for The Silk Road Theatre Project.
