Artist Bio
Calamity West
(Bio as of September 2019)
Calamity West (Playwright, Engines and Instruments of Flight: A Fantasia) is a Chicago-based, award winning playwright. Her plays have appeared at Jackalope Theatre, Steep Theatre, Sideshow Theatre, TimeLine, Williamstown Theatre Festival, and Roundabout. Plays include The Retribution Play, Christmas at Home, Greetings from Moscow! A Love Story, In the Canyon, Hinter, Give it All Back, Rolling, Ibsen is Dead, The Peacock and The Gacy Play. She is a company member at Jackalope Theatre Company and an artistic associate of Sideshow Theatre Company. She received the 3Arts Award in 2014 and teaches playwriting at the University of Chicago and Webster University. Calamity holds a BA in dramatic writing from Webster University and an MFA in creative writing from California College of the Arts. She is represented by ICM Partners.
