Bill Buford

Bill Buford was born in 1954 in Baton Rouge and grew up in the San Fernando Valley. He attended the University of California—Berkeley, and Kings College at Cambridge University in England. Since 1979 he has edited the literary magazine Granta. Among the Thugs was first published in 1990. His is currently the fiction editor for The New Yorker magazine.
