Artist Bio
Ari Cervantes
(Bio as of July 2021)
Ari Cervantes (Musician) was born in Huauchinango, Puebla, Mexico and grew up practicing ballet and folkloric Mexican music. He learned to play jarana jarocha, guitar and percussion such as Peruvian cajón and bongos. He attended the Facultad de Música de la Universidad Veracruzana and has taken courses mainly focused on music of La Huasteca and Veracruz. He has travelled across Mexico and internationally, representing Mexico at forums in countries such as Turkey, France, Brazil, Colombia and the United States. He performed as part of the ballet musical cast Quetzalli. He is currently an Accompanying Director of the Collaborative Institute of Cultural Arts in Chicago. He is a part of the Orquesta Real de Xalapa and also often performs as a violinist and multi-instrumentalist for folkloric ballet companies across the United States and Mexico.
